Time seems to stand still in the Saar Bow. Ships slow down to navigate the hairpin bend in the river, while visitors on top of the Cloef viewing point stop to catch their breath at the stunning views.
This is nature at its very finest - glittering water and verdant forests clinging to the hillsides. The best time to visit is early in the morning, when the mist rises off the river and drifts up the sides of the valley.
The Saar Bow lies in the heart of the Saar-Hunsrück Nature Park. Watchful observers can spot rare animals here, including kingfishers, Emerald dragonflies, beavers, deer and even wildcats.
The Saar-Hunsrück Trail is an absolute must for hikers. The 410 km route takes walkers past vast forests, flowery groves and orchards, and small rivers and reservoirs which are the perfect place to take a short break. It is simply one of the most beautiful hiking trails in Germany!
