The state spa of Salzuflen, nestled at the foot of the Teutoburg Forest mountains, has been an important health resort in Germany since the early 19th century and is particularly well-known for its mineral and saltwater spa.
The town, located in the heart of Germany within the gently undulating Lippe hills, has embraced healthy living and well-being. Spa guests are able to sample the local remedy in various different ways – by drinking, inhaling or bathing in it – and a broad range of exercise regimes and relaxation treatments are available alongside the many natural therapies on offer.
Healthy salt-water microclimate
The health resort's six clinics each specialise in different treatments, and the town can boast its own saltwater microclimate at the salt evaporation works: a popular choice amongst visitors, especially those with allergies. There's also plenty of fresh air for keen walkers, who will feel the beneficial effects immediately. Saltwater can alleviate a broad range of complaints, including arthrosis and skin disorders such as psoriasis and neurodermatitis. But Bad Salzuflen's saltwater spring is not the only reason for the town's acclaim.
Salt for relaxation
Its compact streets are also hugely popular, with the town-centre route leading past a maze of side alleys and magnificent Renaissance houses, then onwards past the salt evaporation works, therapy centre and spa assembly rooms, concert hall and gardens. The route continues seamlessly to the town's landscaped garden with its VitaSol thermal baths and pristine, protected natural scenery.
In the evening, visitors can choose from concerts, theatre, cinema, dance and entertainment to suit every taste. Bad Salzuflen – a feast for all the senses.
