Geisels Werneckhof

Geisels Werneckhof in Munich – a Japanese twist on Bavarian cuisine

At first glance, the Geisels Werneckhof traditional inn, boasting a stylish location in Munich's trendy Schwabing district, radiates classy and tasteful hospitality. The elegant Art Nouveau-style dining room brings to mind images of top-quality German home cooking. Which makes the menu, featuring extraordinary creations by German-Japanese Head Chef Tohru Nakamura, even more of a surprise.

This puristic master of flavours combines his Bavarian-Japanese roots with a cosmopolitan outlook and a deep love of nature. The result is a very distinctive culinary signature that has quickly earned him international recognition. Ingredients such as Bavarian radish come together with Wagyu beef, or wild hare with Japanese pepper, to create harmonious cosmopolitan fusions.

The GOP Variety Theatre Munich is a place where dreams are just beginning. It's curtain up for the glittering world of variety, for its magicians and aerialists, its comedians and compères, for the whole world of acrobatic arts and live entertainment. The former comedy theatre Max II continues the GOP Entertainment Group's tradition of finding extraordinary venues for its variety theatres.

For many years, until 2007, the Kleine Komödie am Max II was an integral part of Munich's cultural scene, featuring well-known performers including Johannes Heesters, Ilja Richter, Grit Boettcher, Uschi Glas, Heinz Rühmann and Walter Sedlmayr. When this prestigious venue was forced to close its doors in 2007, the opportunity arose to reopen it as a new GOP Variety Theatre. Since 2008 a series of modern, innovative shows has taken to the stage, each one for two months. Linked by a common theme, the individual shows leave the audience in raptures time and time again. Profound, poetic or bursting with life and energy, each show offers a different experience. Exceptional stage shows and culinary delights combine to create an evening to thrill the senses. The winning combination of premium live entertainment, creative gastronomic concepts and friendly, competent service is precisely what makes the GOP Variety Theatre Munich such a hit with audiences and keeps them coming back for more.

This is the twentieth year Munich’s museums, collections, galleries and churches are inviting the public to their great, communal Long Night show. The recipe for the success and continuing appeal of the Long Night has not changed: Around 90 museums and exhibition venues will be opening their doors to the public for seven hours during the 21st Long Night of Munich Museums 2019. Their collective presentation displays the impressive variety and quality of Munich’s many collections. In addition, they have a diverse program of special tours, music and theater on offer, along with afternoon fun for families with children at a lot of venues.

This (indulgent) tour will lead through different artistic styles and epochs, across continents and (his)stories to research and technology, offering something for everyone.

Shuttle buses will again be taking interested night owls from museum to museum.

The ticket costs 15 € and is valid for admission to all participating venues for one adult and up to four children (4-14 years old) for the evening program and for the MVG shuttle buses. It is also valid as ticket for one person on the day of the event for all public transit services within the zones of the MVV Transit Authority. The ticket can also be used for entry to offerings separate from the museums, such as the ”mobile offering,” ”city sightseeing walks” or the ”open-end party” in the Bayerischer Hof.

The Long Night Ticket will be available for 15 € from mid-September at all participating venues and all partners. Additional fees will be payable at other advance sales offices. Online orders are possible up to 10 days before the event at muenchenticket.de. Admission tickets will also be available for 15 € on Saturday evening at all participating venues and at the box office tent on the Odeonsplatz starting at 1 pm.
