Similar attractions elsewhere in Germany include the Dinosaur Park in Münchehagen by the Lake Steinhude nature reserve and Gondwana prehistoric world in Schiffweiler in the Saarland.
Adventures of a prehistoric nature await children and families at the dinosaur-themed leisure park in Kleinwelka near Dresden. The park, which covers nearly 20 hectares, also features a maze and a miniature park. Suitable for children aged three and above.
Though similar attractions exist in the Upper Lusatia region, the Dinosaur Park and maze in Kleinwelka is certainly one of the most impressive with more than 200 dinosaur models – some of which are up to 30 metres tall and can now even roar, hiss, emit smells and make the ground tremor. The prehistoric age is brought back to life within this primeval-like woodland. Dinosaur enthusiasts of all ages can embark on a journey back in time and learn how dinosaurs lived, reproduced and raised their young and how the carnivores hunted their prey. A wide range of audio installations create an authentic backdrop of sounds, while information boards provide all the necessary facts. Fun activity stations in the jungle of creeping vines give kids the chance to climb, slide and explore. And if all that weren't enough, you can even try your hand at archaeology in the park's research camp. There are lots more attractions on the Jurassic adventure site too, while over at Universum children can send a message into outer space or embark on a virtual journey through the centre of the Earth.
The toddler zone at the space station in Kleinwelka theme park is an impressive 4.5 metres tall and 15 metres wide. Reminiscent of a UFO, it fits perfectly into the overall design of the picnic area. This new play zone has plenty to keep children aged three and under happy, with slides, climbing frames and all kinds of other equipment. At the centre is a sandpit and around the edges there are slopes and slides for the children to explore. The miniature park guarantees fun and entertainment without the need for any hair-raising rides. Here there are games to encourage little ones to get active, and children can try to outsmart their parents on puzzle games. Over at the gold mine everyone is hoping for a spectacular find. An avenue of puzzles, a path blocked by eggs, horseshoe pinball or a forest telephone – there's always something new and exciting just waiting to be discovered! The adventure continues in the maze next door – where getting lost is all part of the fun! There are more than 30,000 different ways to get to the end, so it's easy to take a wrong turn …
