The Württemberg Chamber Choir's reputation rests on its unusual, highly challenging repertoire. Time and again, on tour and at many festivals, it sets the benchmark for contemporary excellence in choral singing.
The Württemberg Chamber Choir was founded in Stuttgart in 1970. Despite describing itself as a semi-professional mixed choir, it is among the best in its field. Its repertoire begins with Schütz, Schein and Bach but there's also a bold emphasis on 19th and 20th century music including premieres of works by Isang Yun and Dieter Schnebel, Shostakovich's 13th Symphony (with male chorus) and a crossover project with Poulenc's cycle Figure humaine. The choir's interpretations of Hugo Wolf's choral works and lieder are also very highly regarded.
