Destination Germany 30 years after the fall of the Berlin Wall: Harz National Park.
This region has also seen big changes since the fall of the Berlin Wall. For example, what was once a restricted military area was transformed into the Harz National Park, which now provides a safe haven for many plant and animal species. @scottcbakken visited the Harz National Park and the surrounding areas 30 years after the fall of the Berlin Wall and took some great photos.
HARZ NATIONAL PARK.
Harz National Park is one of the largest woodland nature reserves in Germany. It is a truly magical landscape of mountains, forests, cliffs, moors and mountain streams. Just like on this photo, for example.
A trip on the Brockenbahn railway up to Mount Brocken, the highest peak in the national park, is a real treat. There are amazing views all along the ascent through forests up to the top. And, of course, simply travelling on this historical train is an experience in itself.
Mysterious Rammelburg Castle is located in a picturesque spot surrounded by wooded peaks. You can’t go inside the castle, but you can enjoy lovely views of this wild and romantic place on a walk around the region.
