German Travel Association (DRV)

Germans are the world’s travel champions. They spend more on foreign travel than any other nation, namely almost 65bn euros per year. The tourism industry is thus an important economic factor in Germany providing about 2.9 million jobs.

The DRV – the world's third largest tourism industry association

The German Travel Association (DRV) represents the interests of small, medium-sized and large enterprises in the travel industry in their relationship with service providers in Germany and abroad and with politicians at German, European and international level. The DRV is one of the world's largest and most influential associations in the travel industry, with 4,500 members who range from owner-operated sole traders to listed international corporations.

The DRV informs the public about the advantages of travel organised by tour operators and about what the travel industry has to offer. It also promotes activities to preserve the environment and encourage cultural diversity in tourism. It advises its members on matters of travel and competition law as well as on general terms and conditions. It provides information about tax issues and general practical topics and supports its members by offering training in the form of workshops, seminars and courses. Member companies can draw on a wide range of business services provided by the DRV, ranging from market research data to individual advice on business matters. For a number of years now, one of the areas of focus in the DRV's work has been to provide information about communications technologies and how best to use them in business.
