Saldenburg Youth Hostel (Jugendherberge Saldenburg)

Saldenburg Castle, which dates back to the 14th century, is located about 30 km north of Passau in the southern Bavarian Forest in the Dreiburgenland region. Despite extensive renovation (1979) and partial renovation (1999), the youth hostel has retained its original atmosphere and offers plenty of leisure activities with its large outdoor area.

  • There is a general parking lot. The parking space for people with disabilities is not marked (350 cm x 500 cm).
  • The 1st floor and the 2nd floor are accessible only by stairs. 
  • The entrance to the building is step-free.
  • On the ground floor are the public WC, the disco and the lounge, on the 1st floor the reception and the dining room.
  • Door thresholds are max. 10 cm high. 
  • Exterior paths are at least 300 cm wide. (existing external path widths in cm: 300).
  • Exterior paths have a maximum longitudinal slope of 15%. 
  • Doors are at least 67 cm wide. 
  • The counter is 105 cm high at the lowest point. 
  • There are 7 accessible tables (maximum height 80 cm, accessible at a height of 67 cm with a depth of 30 cm). 
  • There is no public toilet for people with disabilities.

Bedroom 1/ 2nd floor:

  • The room is a double room.
  • The movement areas are:
  • in front of essential furnishings (e.g. cupboards) 120 cm x 210 cm;
  • to the left of the bed 185 cm x 210 cm;
  • to the right of the bed 0 cm x 0 cm.
  • The bed is 46 cm high.

Bathroom

  • The movement areas in the bathroom are:   in front of the sink 90 cm x 110 cm; in front of the WC 60 cm x 125 cm; to the left of the WC 20 cm x 54 cm; to the right of the WC 20 cm x 54 cm.
  • The washbasin is wheelchair accessible at a height of 67 cm and a depth of less than 30 cm.
  • The mirror is visible in sitting and standing position.

Shower

  • There is a threshold of 36 cm. 
  • The shower area is 66 cm x 80 cm.

  • There is no visual alarm in the building.
  • An audio induction loop is not available.
  • Information is available in written form.
  • There are bright and glare-free tables in the Gothic and Baroque dining rooms, with no lamps standing or hanging on them to restrict the field of vision. There are no seating areas with low ambient noise.
  • In the rooms surveyed, at least one electrical outlet is available near the bed.
