Youth Hostel Wernigerode
The Wernigerode youth hostel is the ideal starting point to discover the beautiful town and the Harz National Park. Playroom and playground, beach volleyball and soccer hall, sauna, a cafeteria and bowling alleys: from exercise to relaxation, everything is possible around our house! You can relax and unwind on our panoramic roof terrace with a fantastic view of the castle and Brocken.
If you wish, as a family you can stay with us in beautiful rooms with a connecting door. There are numerous ideas for games and sports for young and old in and around the house. The Harz is a family adventure anyway: mountains, forests, gorges and lakes await you here. Experience the unique nature of the national park, take the tourist train through Wernigerode or visit the “Kleiner Harz” miniature park.

- A parking space for people with disabilities is available.
- From the parking lot, a staircase with 31 steps leads to the entrance.
- Guests with limited mobility and wheelchair users can use the ground-level rear entrance (please call ahead).
- From there, you can take the elevator to the 1st floor. The elevator provides access to the following areas: reception desk, Room 1.02, seminar room, cafeteria
- All doors, passageways, and pathways accessible to guests are at least 80 cm wide.
- The reception desk is 115 cm high. There is no other equivalent means of communication while seated.
- There are four rooms that are accessible.
- The toilet in the room is accessible from one side (at least 80 cm). There are fold-down grab bars to the left and right of the toilet.
- The sink is wheelchair compatible, and the mirror is visible even while seated.
- Access to the shower is threshold-free. A grab bar and a shower chair are provided.
- The dining room has tables that are no more than 80 cm high and are wheelchair compatible at a height of 67 cm and a depth of 30 cm.

- In the event of an audible alarm, there is no additional visual flashing signal.
- There is no audio induction loop system or other technical assistance available for people with hearing impairments (e.g., Sennheiser Mobile Connect, Phonak Roger).
- In the rooms surveyed, there is no freely accessible electrical outlet near the bed.
- An emergency call made from the elevator is confirmed only by an audible signal. Stairs are available as an alternative.
- The dining room features tables with bright, glare-free lighting; there are no lamps standing or hanging above the tables that obstruct the field of vision or eye contact.
