Astonishment, experimentation, invention and discovery - all this is possible at phanTECHNIKUM in Wismar! On an exhibition area of 3,000 m², impressive exhibits and numerous experiments invite visitors to look at and participate.

"Technology to touch" is the motto. Technology fans, experimentalists and hobby inventors are equally enthusiastic. Whether to "air", to "water" or around the element "fire" - the phanTECHNIKUM presents the exciting world of the history of technology vividly and interactively.

  • There are three parking spaces for people with disabilities.
  • All rooms and facilities that can be used by guests and are raised are accessible without steps/at ground level or via a ramp or elevator. 
  • All doors/passages that can be used by guests and are raised are at least 88 cm wide.
  • Most exhibits and information can be viewed from a seated position.
  • The counter/cash desk is 101 cm high. There is an alternative way of communicating while seated.
  • Seating is available.
  • There are two public toilets for people with disabilities on the first floor and in the attic, which can be accessed from both sides (at least 90 cm). The grab rails on the WC can be flipped-up.
  • Guided tours are offered for people with walking disabilities and wheelchair users. The entire route of the tour is steplessly accessible for wheelchair users. Advance booking is requested.

  • An outgoing emergency call in the elevator is only confirmed acoustically. Alternatively, stairs are available.

  • Assistance dogs are welcome.
  • The signage (for orientation) is designed in easy-to-read, high-contrast lettering.
  • There is a good contrast between the lettering and pictograms on the signage.
  • All areas are brightly lit and glare-free.
  • An outgoing emergency call in the elevator is confirmed acoustically. The signage is also available in Braille. 
  • Stairs have a handrail on at least one side.
  • The exhibits are well illuminated. Information about the exhibits is visually rich in contrast.
  • Information about the exhibits is conveyed acoustically. Information is not available in Braille or prismatic writing. 
  • Guided tours are offered for people with visual impairments and blind people. During the guided tours, exhibits are integrated for touching. Advance booking is requested.
