Schaumberg plateau with tower Tholey

Schaumberg plateau with tower Tholey (JENS WEGENER)

The 569 meter high Schaumberg is one of the highest elevations in the Saarland and the landmark of the municipality of Tholey. Since 1976, the Schaumberg plateau has been a Franco-German meeting place.

From the 37.5 meter high observation tower, one can see across the Saarland to the Palatinate Forest, the Vosges Mountains and Hunsrück. Overview photos mounted on the parapet help with orientation. To see details, there are two fixed telescopes.

The "Summits" exhibition presents the crises and highlights of past eras and embeds local history in the larger context of historical events. The climate protection exhibition shows why and what threatening consequences climate change has for many people in this world, and would like to encourage each individual to do something about it in their own environment.
