Tourist Information Pirmasens

(Rüdiger Buchholz)

The friendly city, which is home to shoe expertise, gets its visitors on the go - in the truest sense of the word. The natural topography of the city, which is built on seven hills, and the Dynamikum, the first science center in Rhineland-Palatinate, ensure this.

Lots of exercise also awaits just outside the city in the Palatinate's largest open-air arena: the Palatinate Forest. Here, it's the season for hiking, mountain biking and recreation all year round. Discover the castles and red sandstone cliffs of the Wasgau, the vast fields of the Sickingerhöhe and the neighboring French region of Alsace/Lorraine.

The parade ground with its festivals and open-air events, the pedestrian zone with its castle fountain and the museums in the "Old Town Hall", the Forum ALTE POST with Bürkel Gallery, interactive Hugo Ball Cabinet and temporary exhibitions, the Westwall fortress Gerstfeldhöhe and the "glass production" of the Wawi chocolate world with the "sweetest guys in town" and, and, and - all this makes "Bärmesens", as Pirmasens is called in Palatinate dialect, an eventful destination.
