The Wadden Sea Visitor Center is located directly on the Sahlenburg beach between heath and mudflats. The attractively designed exhibition is located in an architecturally impressive wooden building. Visitors can experience the tidal flats, salt marshes and coastal heaths during guided nature tours. The vast mudflat landscape is a special nature experience at any time of the year.

  • The “Seehospital” bus stop is located 200 meters away.
  • There are two designated parking spaces for people with disabilities (space dimensions: 350 cm x 500 cm). 
  • The path from the parking lot to the entrance is 30 meters long. 
  • The building is accessible without steps via a ramp.
  • The ramp leading to the entrance has a maximum gradient of 6% and a total length of 35 m. Handrails are provided on both sides. 
  • All rooms and facilities accessible to guests are at ground level, accessible via a ramp or an elevator.
  • The elevator car measures 110 cm x 140 cm.
  • All doors and passageways accessible to guests are at least 90 cm wide.
  • The ticket counter is 85 cm high at its lowest point. An alternative, equivalent means of communication while seated is available.
  • The exhibits and information are primarily visible while seated.
  • A public restroom for people with disabilities is available, which is accessible from both sides (at least 90 cm). The grab bars in the restroom can be folded up.
  • Guided tours are offered for people with mobility impairments and wheelchair users. Advance registration is required.
  • Mobile or fixed seating is available for people with mobility impairments to use during the tour.
  • The entire tour route is fully accessible to wheelchair users.
