  • There are two marked parking spaces for people with disabilities in front of the entrance (parking space size: 350 cm x 500 cm).  
  • Essen Central Station is 250 m away.  
  • All rooms and facilities that can be used by guests are accessible without steps/at ground level or via a ramp or elevators. 
  • All usable and raised doors/passages are at least 90 cm wide.
  • The reception desk is 115 cm high at its lowest point.  There is another, equivalent means of communication while seated.  
  • There are 36 barrier-free rooms.
  • The WC in rooms 155 and 217 can be accessed from both sides (at least 90 cm). There are folding grab rails to the left and right of the WC.  
  • The washbasin can be driven under and the mirror can be seen while standing or sitting.
  • Access to the shower is barrier-free. A grab rail and a shower chair are available.
  • The breakfast area and lounge bar in the lobby and the 1st Cup café have wheelchair-accessible tables (maximum height 80 cm, wheelchair-accessible at a height of 67 cm and a depth of 30 cm).
  • There is a public WC for people with disabilities, which can be accessed from both sides (at least 90 cm). There are folding grab rails to the left and right of the toilet.

  • In the event of an audible alarm (e.g. fire alarm), there is a clearly visible flashing or blinking signal.
  • An audio induction loop system is available. 
  • An outgoing emergency call in the elevator is confirmed acoustically, e.g. by an intercom system. Alternatively, stairs are available.  
  • In the breakfast area and lounge bar in the lobby and in the 1st Cup café, there are tables with bright and glare-free lighting, with no lamps standing or hanging on them that interfere with the field of vision or eye contact. 
  • In rooms 115, 217 and 402, there is at least one freely available socket near the bed.  
  • In room 115, the ringing of the doorbell is indicated by a flashing signal that can be heard in all rooms. 
  • A “DeafGard” vibrating alarm for the pillow is available.

  • An outgoing emergency call in the elevator is confirmed acoustically, e.g., by an intercom system. The stopping position is not announced by voice.
  • Stairs have visually contrasting edges at least on the first and last steps.  Stairs in the stairwell have handrails on both sides.
  • The steps in front of the entrance have no handrails; alternatively, there is a ramp. 
  • The font of the menu in the breakfast area and lounge bar in the lobby, as well as in the 1st Cup café, is designed in unadorned, high-contrast font.
