The Biological Station has a holistic claim and wants to preserve nature, our native animals and plants, our natural and cultural landscape for people in the long term. With this mission statement we try to implement the sustainable development already defined by the Brundtland Commission in the eighties.
Barrier-free information
All areas relevant for testing meet the quality criteria of the label "Accessibility certified - accessible for people with walking disabilities".
Some information on accessibility are listed below. For detailed information please see the evaluation report.
- There are three marked parking spaces for people with disabilities (parking space size: at least 530 cm x 500 cm).
- The path from the car park to the entrance is 270 m long. It is to walk and drive on and has a maximum longitudinal gradient of 5 % over a distance of 1 m.
- The building is steplessly accessible via a treshold of 2,5 cm.
- All evaluated rooms and facilities available to the guests are steplessly accessible at ground level.
- All evaluated passageways/doors available to the guests are at least 80 cm wide.
- The exhibits and the information on the exhibits are predominately visible and readable when seated.
- There is a public restroom for people with disabilities that is accessible from one side (at least 80 cm). There are fold-down grab bars on the left and right sides of the restroom.
- Guided tours are available for people with mobility impairments and wheelchair users. Advance registration is required.
- The entire tour route is wheelchair-accessible with no steps.
