Tourist Information Annweiler am Trifels

Touristinformation Annweiler

Südliche Weinstrasse Annweiler am Trifels e. V.

A vacation in Trifelsland means experiencing nature, hiking, cycling, discovering castles and enjoying regional specialties. The Trifels, a center of the region since Staufer times, impresses with its history and the magnificent view from the castle tower over the Palatinate Forest-North Vosges biosphere reserve. A visit to Annweiler am Trifels is worthwhile to explore the romantic old town with its half-timbered houses, mill wheels and the Museum unterm Trifels. The Markward complex invites you to take a stroll.

A detour to the wine route is a must: wine taverns offer Palatinate wines, Saumagen and white cheese. Active tours lead to the Palatinate Forest huts, which are a UNESCO cultural heritage site. The TrifelsErlebnisWeg or the Keschde-Erlebnisweg with digital experiences from the SÜW app are ideal for families. A highlight is the wildlife and hiking park, where visitors can experience native wildlife up close - only wild boar, bison and wolves remain safely separated.

A detour to the wine route is a must: wine taverns offer Palatinate wines, "Saumagen" (a hearty specialty of Palatinate cuisine, a type of boiled sausage that is cooked in a pig's stomach. It consists mainly of pork, sausage meat and potatoes, which are refined with spices and is traditionally cut into slices and served warm, often with side dishes such as sauerkraut, potatoes or salad and white cheese).
