Youth Hostel Stralsund

DJH Youth Hostel Stralsund has 199 beds in 51 rooms and several buildings. Two new bed houses opened in 2015, the lower floor, which is completely wheelchair accessible, each with four guest rooms with private bathrooms and a common room. The total bed capacity for wheelchair users is 24 in 13 rooms. The youth hostel is located on the Devin peninsula at the gates of the Hanseatic city - idyllic in nature and yet very close to the highlights of the UNESCO World Heritage City. The swimming area with a sandy beach right next to the youth hostel is mated by the city in summer and is accessible by wheelchair.

  • There are two parking spaces for people with disabilities.
  • The Devin bus stop is 300 m away.
  • All rooms and facilities that can be used by guests are accessible without steps/at ground level or via a ramp. 
  • All doors/passages and paths that can be used by guests are at least 80 cm wide.
  • The reception counter is 118 cm high.
  • There are 13 barrier-free rooms. A nursing bed is available on request.
  • The WC in the room can be accessed from one side (at least 80 cm). There is a folding grab rail.
  • The washbasin is wheelchair compatible and the mirror is visible when standing or sitting.
  • Access to the shower is barrier-free. A grab rail and a shower chair are available.
  • There are tables in the dining room that are max. 80 cm high and wheelchair compatible at a height of 67 cm and a depth of 30 cm.

  • The signage (for orientation) is designed in easily legible and high-contrast lettering.
