Youth Hostel Dessau
The modern Bauhaus-style youth hostel is located next to the Masters' Houses - on the edge of the forest and yet close to the town centre. Relax on the large grounds with sun terrace and playground or in the hostel's own cafeteria. All rooms - four of them wheelchair accessible - are equipped with shower/WC. A separate building can be booked for groups up to 30 persons.

All areas relevant for testing meet the quality criteria of the label "Accessibility certified - accessible for people with walking disabilities and partially accessible for wheelchair users".

- There are two marked parking spaces for people with disabilities (parking space size: 350 cm x 600 cm).
- The path from the car park to the main entrance is 15 m long.
- The path from the car park to the side entrance is 25 m long and has a maximum longitudinal gradient of 3 %.
- The building is steplessly accessible via the side entrance with ramp. The ramp has a maximum gradient of 5 % and a total length of 6 m.
- Almost all evaluated rooms and facilities available to the guests are steplessly accessible at ground level or via ramps.
Exception: The play and leisure areas are only accessible via steps. - All evaluated passageways/doors available to the guests are at least 90 cm wide.
- The reception desk is at its lowest point 84 cm high. There is another, equivalent communication possibility while in a sitting position.
- There are wheelchair accessible tables available in the dining room (maximum height 80 cm, wheelchair accessible at a height of 67 cm and a depth of 30 cm).
Bedroom 1 (double room, ground floor)
- There is another identical room (#2).
- The manoeuvring spaces in front of essential stationary furnishings (e.g. wardrobe) and left and right of the bed are at least 150 cm x 150 cm.
- The bed is 45 cm high.
- The manoeuvring spaces in the bathroom 1 are:
in front of/behind the door, in front of the toilet and the washbasin at least 150 cm x 150 cm;
left of the toilet 140 cm x 70 cm, there is no movement area on the right. - The sink is wheelchair compatible.
- The mirror can be seen while standing or sitting.
- The shower is accessible without thresholds.
- The manoeuvring space in the shower is 120 cm x 120 cm.
- A shower seat is available or can be provided if required.
- There are grab rails available in the shower.
- An alarm trigger is available.
- In room #2, which is identical in construction, the bathroom is arranged in reverse. Here the toilet can be approached from the right. There is no movement area on the left.
Public toilet for people with disabilities (ground floor)
- The manoeuvring spaces are:
in front of/behind the door, in front of the toilet and the washbasin at least 150 cm x 150 cm;
left and right of the toilet at least 88 cm x 70 cm. - There are grab rails available on the right and left of the toilet. The grab rails can be flipped-up.
- The sink is wheelchair compatible.
- The mirror can be seen while standing or sitting.
- An alarm trigger is available.
