The barrier-free visitor information centre "Flößerei und Trift" is located in the Elmstein valley, in the old station of the Kuckucksbähnel. Idyllically situated in the middle of the Palatinate Forest. In the immediate vicinity is the barrier-free "Walter-Bernius-Freizeitanlage" (Walter Bernius Leisure Centre), with plenty of seating, a playground, a Kneipp pool and a large lawn for sunbathing. Take a tour through the small park and learn about the historical features of the municipality of Elmstein from the information boards and enjoy a view of the Speyerbach stream from a specially built platform. Not far from the visitor information centre is the mini-golf and pit-pat facility, which can also be reached via barrier-free paths.

  • There is one marked parking space for people with disabilities.
  • All evaluated rooms and facilities available to the guests are accessible without steps.
  • All evaluated passageways/doors available to the guests are at least 93 cm wide.
  • External paths are easy to walk and drive on and have longitudinal gradients of up to 7%.
  • Seating is available along the theme trail.
  • The information boards on the theme trail can be read while seated.
  • The pit-pat facility can be used by wheelchair users. The height of the tables is approx. 80 cm and they are wheelchair compatible. As a rule, there is a manoeuvring space of at least 150 cm x 150 cm at the tables - at least at one point.

WC for people with disabilities

  • The toilet door can be opened with a Euro key outside opening hours.
  • The manoeuvring spaces are:
    in front of the washbasin and WC 175 cm x 160 cm;
    97 cm x 70 cm to the left of the WC; 95 cm x 70 cm to the right of the WC. Access to the manoeuvring space to the right of the WC is 80 cm wide.
  • There are grab rails to the left and right of the WC. The grab rails can be folded up.
  • The washbasin is wheelchair compatible. The mirror can be seen from a sitting or standing position.
  • There is a cord as an alarm trigger.
