Youth Hostel Leer

The youth hostel Leer, one of the oldest buildings in the city, is located in the heart of the old town. The "Bummel-Meile", the picturesque harbor and many other sights can therefore be reached easily on foot. 

The immediate surroundings also have some highlights to offer: Castles and palaces, museum harbor with open-air museum for historic ships, the UNESCO World Heritage Wadden Sea and much more.

Some information on accessibility are listed below. For detailed information please see the evaluation report at the end.

  • There is a marked parking space for people with disabilities (parking space size 350 cm x 510 cm, distance to entrance back 35 m).
  • Access to the entrance area is without steps or thresholds.
  • The reception is 74 cm  high. 
  • All rooms that can be used by the guest are accessible at ground level.
  • In public areas doors and passageways are at least 80 cm wide.
  • There are wheelchair accessible tables in the dining room. The terrace is accessible at ground level.
  • There is no public toilet available, which can be attained via a maximum of one step and has a door width of at least 70 cm. 

Room 30 with sanitary room

  • The manoeuvring spaces in the sleeping area are 200 cm x 113 cm in front of essential immobile furnishings and 197 cm x 400 cm to the left of the bed. On the right the bed stands next to the wall. It is not wheelchair accessible. A nursing bed cannot be provided.
  • The narrowest passage width in the room is 105 cm.
  • The manoeuvring spaces in the sanitary room are larger than 150 cm x 150 cm in front of the toilet and washbasin. The manoeuvring spaces next to the toilet are 151 cm x 55 cm on the left and 100 cm x 55 cm on the left.
  • There are handles that can be folded up on both sides.
  • The shower area at ground level is 130 cm x 190 cm. There is a shower chair and grab handles.
  • The washbasin is wheelchair compatible and the mirror can be seen while standing or sitting.

  • There is no visually perceivable alarm in the building.
  • There are tables with low background noises in the dining room.
  • There are tables with bright and glare-free lighting on which there are no lamps standing or hanging that restrict eye contact.

  • There is at least one electrical outlet available near the bed.
  • Knocking at the room door is not indicated by a blinking signal.
