Theater Dortmund (Theater Dortmund)

The Theater Dortmund with its 6 divisions offers artistic enjoyment at the highest level. With opera, ballet, philharmonic orchestra, drama and children's and youth theater, the theater occupies a top position among Germany's theaters. The program sets standards and artistic accents - the audience is always thrilled here.

The sixth division, the Academy for Theatre and Digitality, sees itself as a laboratory for linking artistic practice with technical innovation.

  • There are two parking spaces for people with disabilities in the Opera House underground car park.
  • All rooms and facilities that can be used by guests are step-free/at ground level or accessible via a ramp or elevator. 
  • There are no gradients of more than 7%.
  • All doors/passages that can be used by guests are at least 83 cm wide. Exception: The elevator in the opera house leads to boxes 1 and 2. The elevator door is 61 cm wide.
  • There are four designated wheelchair spaces in the main hall of the opera house (ground floor) and in the theater, which are accessible without steps.
  • Wheelchair-accessible tables are available in the restaurant area of the opera house (ground floor).
  • There is a public toilet for people with disabilities (on the ground floor of the opera house), which is accessible from both sides (at least 90 cm). The public toilet for people with disabilities in the theater is accessible from one side (66 cm).  
  • There are folding grab rails to the left and right of the toilets.

  • There is no audio induction loop.
  • In the event of an acoustic alarm, an optically perceptible flashing light or flashing signal appears.
  • An emergency call is confirmed acoustically in the elevator. Alternatively, stairs are available.

  • The entrance is visually rich in contrast and can be recognized by a tactile change of floor covering.
  • The house signage is designed in clearly legible, high-contrast font.
  • There are no carousel or rotary doors.
  • Almost all evaluated areas usable by the guest are well illuminated, i.e. bright and glare-free.
  • An emergency call is confirmed acoustically in the elevator.
  • In the main hall and in the box galleries, the steps are provided with visually contrasting edges, whereas the steps between the ground floor and the upper floor are not. Handrails are present.
  • Information is not available in Braille or prismatic writing.
