The Egyptian Museum presents one of the most important collections of ancient Egyptian objects worldwide. It is located with its spectacular building in the heart of the Munich Kunstareal. 13 thematically structured rooms invite the public on a journey of discovery through 5,000 years of art and culture of Ancient Egypt.
The focus is on art with sculptures, portrait heads and reliefs, around which topics such as religion, belief in the afterlife, kingship or writing and text are grouped. Media stations and a media guide open up the contents and contexts and provide details on the exhibited objects.
The clear, memorable forms of Egyptian art are particularly well suited for mediation within the framework of guided tours for people with disabilities.
The room "Egypt (er)fassen" is ideal for people with visual impairments. There, all objects may be touched, and a special guide on the MedienGuide provides information about the pieces.
