Siegburg Tourist Information (Helge Articus)

Where does Siegburg belong?    On your bucket list!

Because Siegburg is an experience for everyone – for adventurers and those looking to unwind, outdoor enthusiasts and families, culture lovers, foodies and party-goers!

Here in Siegburg, the motto is: short distances – great experiences. The former federal capital, Bonn, and the metropolis of Cologne are right on our doorstep: You can immerse yourself in nature and take a deep breath in just a few minutes, then come and unwind here in Siegburg on the market square. Here, for example, you’ll find concerts, festivals, the International Siegburg Ceramics Market, as well as the Medieval Market at Christmas time.

Did you know that one of the two most frequently performed operas in the world comes from Siegburg (or at least was penned by a Siegburg native)? That Siegburg designs were in such high demand at the royal courts? That without us, around 800,000 people would be suffering from a real thirst? And that we (purely as a precaution) brew our own beer? ‘Der Siegburger’ itself is frothy and goes down a treat. Here you’ll find Germany’s largest heated indoor diving centre. Plus palm trees, crocodiles and an octopus. A former mental asylum (as it was known back then), which is now our landmark. Plus the ‘Hot Abbot’ and his mates. Several party districts when we’re really letting our hair down. Good food, what’s arguably the most beautiful market square in the world, loads of culture and even more nature.

We love the monastery on the volcano, meet up in the summer to sing in the market square, and start speaking in an old-fashioned way around Christmas time (no, it’s not down to the Siegburg dialect). We may not have invented the ‘shop till you drop’ concept, but we’ve certainly refined it. Did you know all that? If not, you really ought to come to Siegburg. Did you know all that after all? Come along anyway! And if you actually live here: it’s brilliant here, isn’t it? Be sure to spread the word!

The team at Siegburg Tourist Information is happy to provide information by phone or email, and will welcome you in person at the Siegburg City Museum on the market square.

We look forward to seeing you!
