Galerie Stihl Waiblingen

Galerie Stihl Waiblingen (www.peter-oppenlaender.de)

Opened in May 2008, Galerie Stihl Waiblingen is a municipal exhibition venue specialising in the presentation of works on and made from paper. Since its opening, the gallery’s high-quality and varied programme has attracted over 450,000 visitors to Waiblingen.

The gallery’s name pays tribute to the generous donation from the Eva Mayr-Stihl Foundation, which made the building’s construction possible, whilst also referring to the institution’s sponsor, the town of Waiblingen. Together with the neighbouring Unteres Remstal Art School and the House of Local History, which opened in 2014, the gallery forms a cultural hub between the historic town walls and the banks of the River Rems.

In this way, the town of Waiblingen positions itself nationally and across the region as a significant venue for the presentation and promotion of art and culture.
