Wilhelm Restaurant and Café
After more than 20 years of slumber, a place that has been a part of life for many generations in Guben has been brought back to life. Many residents of Guben learned to read, write, and do arithmetic at the former Wilhelm Pieck School and made lifelong friends there. But the Pieck School in Guben was not just any school; when it was founded in 1951–52, it was considered the most beautiful and modern school in the GDR. Many residents of Guben are still justifiably proud of this magnificent building in the heart of the city to this day. The Guben Social Services gave the historic building a new purpose and transformed it into a modern care center between 2021 and 2024. The former classrooms have been given a new lease on life. The former auditorium has been transformed into the stylish Restaurant & Café Wilhelm. With regional dishes as well as homemade cakes and pies, it invites guests to enjoy a special coffee break and soak up the pleasant atmosphere.

- The restaurant has tables that are no more than 80 cm high and are wheelchair compatible in that they have a clearance of 67 cm in height and 30 cm in depth.
- There is a public restroom for people with disabilities that is accessible from one side (at least 80 cm). There is a fold-down grab bar on the accessible side of the restroom.
