Saarland Mining Museum - a piece of history
The mining museum presents the entire history of coal mining in the Saarland. The tour of the museum starts from the panorama platform 40 meters up in the tower. The associated underground facility offers visitors the opportunity to experience different types of mining equipment and machines from different eras as well as the working life of the miners.
The surrounding parkland features a playground, two ponds and the Gulliver World, which can be visited free of charge.
Free car and bus parking is available.

- There are marked parking spaces for people with disabilities.
- The bus stop "Blumengarten, Bexbach" is 50 m away.
- The path from the parking lot and the bus stop to the entrance is 50 m long, not easy to walk and drive on and has a maximum longitudinal gradient of 7 % over a distance of 10 m.
- The mining museum is accessible without steps via a ramp. The ramp has a maximum gradient of 18 % and a total length of 4 m.
- All exhibition rooms are steplessly accessible via an elevator. The elevator cabin measures 110 cm x 140 cm.
- The underground area can be reached without steps via an approx. 300 m long outdoor path. The path is mostly easy to walk and drive on. On the last stretch it becomes stony and washed out and has a gradient of 15 % over a distance of 10 m. A high step is surmounted by two permanently installed ramps with a 16% incline (each 20 cm wide, spacing approx. 40 cm).
- In the underground area, the path is largely flat and easy to walk and drive on. An approx. 8 m long section of the path has a gradient of 12% and a stony subsoil. On a length of approx. 6 m, the passage height is only 120 cm.
- Almost all evaluated passageways/doors available to the guests are at least 80 cm wide. Exceptions: The door to the cinema/video area is 77 cm wide. Access to the underground area via stairs is 70 cm wide.
- The exhibits and objects are not all visible while sitting.
Public WC for people with disabilities
- The WC is located in an outbuilding and can be reached via a 25 m long outdoor path. The last part of the path has a 5 cm high threshold and a slope of 13% over a length of 4 meters.
- The WC door can be opened with a Euro key.
- The manoeuvering spaces are:
in front of the washbasin 120 cm x 160 cm;
in front of the toilet 240 cm x 120 cm;
there is no manoeuvering space to the left and right of the WC. - There are fixed grab rails to the left and right of the WC.
- The sink is wheelchair compatible..
- There is no alarm trigger.

- The signage is not consistent. Some of the lettering is not high-contrast and easy to read.
