Since 1993, the Stadthaushotel Hamburg-Altona has been living the idea of integration in practice. First it was an idea, today it is reality - the first integration hotel in Europe.

All areas relevant for testing meet the quality criteria of the label "Accessibility certified - accessible for people with walking disabilities and partially accessible for wheelchair users".

Some information on accessibility are listed below. For detailed information please see the evaluation report.

  • There are two parking spaces for people with disabilities.
  • The building is steplessly accessible.
  • All rooms and facilities that can be used by guests and are raised are accessible at ground level.
  • All doors/passages that can be used by guests and are raised are at least 88 cm wide.
  • There are a total of seven barrier-free rooms: one twin room, two double rooms and four single rooms; they are similar in design.
  • The WC in the rooms can be accessed from the left or right (at least 90 cm). There is a folding grab rail on the accessible side of the toilet.
  • The washbasin can be driven under and the mirror can be seen while standing or sitting.
  • Access to the shower is barrier-free. A grab rail and a shower chair are available.
  • There are wheelchair-accessible tables in the breakfast room (maximum height 80 cm, wheelchair-accessible at a height of 67 cm and a depth of 30 cm).
  • There is a public toilet for people with disabilities, which can be accessed from the right (90 cm). There is a grab rail on the left-hand side of the toilet.

  • There is no clearly visible alarm.
  • There is no audio induction loop system.
  • In the breakfast room there are tables with bright and glare-free lighting, on which there are no lamps standing or hanging that interfere with the field of vision or eye contact. There is no seating area with low background noises (e.g. corner seating, separate room).
  • In Room 1 and 2 (double room) is at least one electrical outlet available near the bed.
  • WiFi is offered.
