The ideal starting point for your visit to the National Park.

Even on bad weather days. An exhibition here is the first showcase for the National Park. The focus is on forests and moors. Interactive, mysterious and multimedia.  Afterwards, we invite guests outside. Why not accompany our rangers on a ranger tour? 

At the moment, the Erbeskopf National Park Gate is the best place to start.  Here you can find the first exhibition about the National Park. In regular operation, you can meet a ranger here every day (except Mondays), ask questions and accompany him on a walk or tour.

Some information on accessibility are listed below. For detailed information please see the evaluation report.

  • There is one marked parking space for people with disabilities.
  • The building is accessible without steps.
  • All evaluated rooms and facilities available to the guests are accessible without steps.
  • The exhibition on the upper floor can be reached without steps either via a stair lift (platform size 100 cm x 80 cm) or via the side entrance. The path to the side entrance has a slope of 5% over a length of 10 m and a 3 cm high threshold.
  • All evaluated passageways/doors available to the guests are at least 90 cm wide.
  • The counter is at its lowest point 75 cm high.
  • The exhibits are predominately visible when seated. The information on the exhibits is predominately readable when seated.
  • Guided tours for people with walking impairments and wheelchair users are offered. A reservation in advance is necessary. Mobile or fixed seats are available, which may be used during the guided tour. The entire route of the guided tour is stepless.

Public toilet for people with disabilities

  • The manoeuvring spaces are:
    in front of the toilet 200 cm x 108 cm;
    in front of the washbasin 200 cm x 140 cm;
    left of the toilet 66 cm x 55 cm, no manoeuvring space on the right.
  • There are grab rails available on the right and left of the toilet. The grab rail on the left of the toilet can be flipped-up.
  • The sink has limited access.
  • An alarm trigger is available.

  • There is no alarm.
  • There is no audio induction loop system at the counter.
  • The information on the exhibits is predominately provided in writing. There is audible information on the exhibits.
  • Guided tours with FM systems (e.g. headphones, neck loops) are available for people with hearing impairments. A reservation in advance is necessary.

  • The exhibits are usually well illuminated.
  • The information on the exhibits is predominately provided in writing and is visually rich in contrast. There is audible information on the exhibits.
  • Information is not available in Braille or prismatic font.
  • There are no guided tours available for people with visual impairments and blind people.
