The Scandic Berlin Potsdamer Platz opened its doors in October 2010 in the center of Berlin directly at the "Potsdamer Platz" and has since established itself as a modern hotel with a smart sustainability concept in Berlin. The Berliner Haus sees itself as a hotel that welcomes all guests equally, whether families, business travellers or people with physical or mental impairments. The hotel has therefore implemented a comprehensive concept for guests with special requirements in the hotel. The hotel offers 60 solution-oriented rooms and other smart solutions, such as information in Braille, lowered counters and wide corridors.

  • There are four marked parking spaces for people with disabilities (parking space size: 350 cm x 500 cm).
  • The DB/S-Bahn station Potsdamer Platz is approx. 500 metres away, the nearest underground station Mendelssohn-Bartholdy-Park is 160 metres away.
  • The building is steplessly accessible.
  • All evaluated rooms and facilities available to the guests are steplessly accessible at ground level or via elevators or a wheelchair lift.
  • The platform of the wheelchair lift is 112 cm x 166 cm.
  • The lift cabin (lift 1-5 identical in construction) is 125 cm x 180 cm. Lift 1 also goes down to the lowest level. 
  • Almost all evaluated passageways/doors available to the guests are at least 88 cm wide.
    Exception: The bathroom door in room 5099 is 85 cm wide.
  • The reception desk is at its lowest point 95 cm high. There is another, equivalent communication possibility while in a sitting position.
  • There are wheelchair accessible tables available in the restaurant and in the breakfast room (maximum height 80 cm, wheelchair accessible at a height of 67 cm and a depth of 30 cm).

    in front of/behind the door, in front of the toilet and the washbasin at least 150 cm x 150 cm;
    left of the toilet  130 cm x 70 cm, right of the toilet 30 cm x 70 cm.
  • There are grab rails available on the right and left of the toilet. The grab rail on the left of the toilet can be flipped-up. 
  • The sink is wheelchair compatible.
