The Scandic Berlin Potsdamer Platz opened its doors in October 2010 in the center of Berlin directly at the "Potsdamer Platz" and has since established itself as a modern hotel with a smart sustainability concept in Berlin. The Berliner Haus sees itself as a hotel that welcomes all guests equally, whether families, business travellers or people with physical or mental impairments. The hotel has therefore implemented a comprehensive concept for guests with special requirements in the hotel. The hotel offers 60 solution-oriented rooms and other smart solutions, such as information in Braille, lowered counters and wide corridors.

  • There are four parking spaces available for people with disabilities.
  • The Potsdamer Platz DB/S-Bahn station is approximately 500 meters away, and the nearest underground station, Mendelssohn-Bartholdy-Park, is 160 meters away.
  • The building is accessible without steps.
  • All rooms and facilities that can be used by guests are accessible without steps, via elevators or a lift.
  • Almost all doors/passages that can be used by guests are at least 88 cm wide. Exception: The bathroom door in room 5099 is 85 cm wide.
  • The reception desk is 95 cm high at its lowest point. 
  • There is another, equivalent communication option available while seated.
  • There are 60 barrier-free rooms available.
  • The toilet in the elevated rooms 5001, 5099, and 4089 can be approached from the right or left (at least 90 cm). There is a flip-up grab bar on at least the approachable side of the toilet.
  • The sink is wheelchair compatible and the mirror can be seen while standing or sitting.
  • The shower is accessible without a threshold. A grab bar and a shower chair are available.
  • Wheelchair-accessible tables are available in the restaurant and breakfast room (maximum height 80 cm, wheelchair accessibility at a height of 67 cm and a depth of 30 cm).
  • There is a public toilet for people with disabilities on the 3rd floor, which is accessible from both sides (minimum 90 cm). The grab rails on the toilet can be flipped-up.

  • There is an audio induction loop at the reception.
  • An outgoing emergency call in the elevator is confirmed audibly. 
  • Alternatively stairs are available. 
  • In the restaurant and in the breakfast room there are tables with bright and glare-free lighting, on which there are no lamps standing or hanging that interfere with the field of vision or eye contact.
  • There is at least one electrical outlet available near the bed.
  • W-LAN is offered.
  • There is a vibration alarm clock available.
