Botanical Garden Frankfurt am Main

Stadt Frankfurt am Main/ Botanischer Garten

In 1763, Dr. Johann Christian Senckenberg (1707-1772) established a foundation from which the Botanical Garden emerged as the first scientific garden in the city. After 150 years of foundation and 100 years of Goethe University, it has been part of the municipal palm garden since 2012. 7 hectares of land are home to 4,000 plant species from Southern Europe, North America, East Asia and the Alps, among others, but the focus is on native plant communities and endangered species from Central Europe. About 500 species of the "Red Lists" and almost half of the German wild plants are present. The "Senckenberg Medicinal Plant Garden" is barrier-free for blind and visually impaired people from the garden entrance onwards. The concept is based on guiding elements, information boards and an app with an audio guide.
