State Museum Mainz

State Museum Mainz (GDKE Landesmuseum Mainz)

200,000 YEARS OF CULTURAL HISTORY

The State Museum's art and cultural history collection ranges from the Stone Age to the present day. It includes gold jewelry, shields and swords from prehistoric eras, stone monuments from the Roman Empire, sculptures and panels from the Middle Ages, paintings from the Renaissance, paintings, furniture and porcelain from the Baroque period, treasures from the 19th century and Art Nouveau treasures. And the modernist works by Max Liebermann, Lovis Corinth and Pablo Picasso attract fans from all over the world to the Landesmuseum. The impressive baroque ensemble of the Landesmuseum alone, with its modern glass and steel construction, the electoral stables and the riding hall, is well worth a visit.
