Primeval World Museum "Geoskop"

Primeval World Museum "Geoskop" (Dr. Jan Fischer)

The GEOSKOP is a natural history museum and presents selected rocks, minerals and fossils from Palatinate. The permanent exhibition focuses on the living world about 300 million years ago. At that time, Palatinate was located at the equator and was part of a huge mountain valley that stretched from eastern France to the Rhine-Main area near Frankfurt. Sharks, crocodile-like amphibians, giant millipedes and gigantic dragonflies lived in the tropical lake and river landscape lined with primeval forests. The museum is home to the oldest pre-dinosaurs in Germany. You can watch the preparation of prehistoric bones by the fossil preparator.
