"Welt-Erbe-Haus"

Welt-Erbe-Haus

The ensemble of buildings at Lübschen Straße 23 is of high historical and cultural value. It is entered in the list of monuments and has a convincing seven-hundred-year history of construction and conversion. The building has a variety of historical architectural features, some of which are made visible and explained thematically in the exhibition.

On the ground floor, the World Heritage Room is the prelude to a tour of the World Heritage House. In the middle of the room the floor is decorated with the inlay of the town plan. Listening to the audio stations you can learn the basic ideas of the UNESCO World Heritage Programme and why the old towns of Stralsund and Wismar are on this exclusive list.

Optical highlight of the exhibition is the restored wallpaper room. The wallpaper cycle shows the mythological story "Travels of the Telemach on the Island of Calypso" and was designed by the artist Xavier Mader between 1815 and 1820.
