Welcome to the martas guest houses at Berlin's main railway station. 

The Christian youth hostel and barrier-free accommodation is located in the heart of the big city of Berlin. Surrounded by lots of greenery in a quiet atmosphere, our house is the ideal starting point to conquer the capital.

We offer affordable prices, a central location, large en suite rooms, good food and many dedicated staff. Many sights, e.g. the Brandenburg Gate and the Reichstag, as well as museums and theatres are in the immediate vicinity. Our house is attractive for all guests and especially for guests with special requirements.

  • There is a parking space for people with disabilities.
  • The bus stop is 100 meters away.
  • All rooms and facilities that can be used by guests are step-free/at ground level or accessible via ramps or elevators.
  • There are no slopes with a gradient of more than 6%.
  • All doors/passages accessible to guests are at least 90 cm wide.
  • The reception desk is 91 cm high. There is another, equivalent communication option available while seated.
  • There are nine barrier-free rooms available.
  • The toilets in these rooms can be accessed from the right or left side (at least 90 cm). There is a folding grab rail on at least the accessible side of the toilet.
  • The sink is wheelchair accessible and the mirror can be seen while standing or sitting.
  • Access to the shower is threshold-free. A grab rail and a shower chair are available.
  • The cafeteria has tables that are max. 80 cm high and wheelchair accessible at a height of 67 cm and a depth of 30 cm.
  • There is a public toilet for people with disabilities, which is accessible from both sides (at least 90 cm). There are folding grab rails on the left and right of the toilet.

  • There is no inductive hearing system.
  • An alarm is clearly visible in public areas and in barrier-free rooms.
  • Wi-Fi is available.
  • In the rooms surveyed, there is at least one freely available power outlet near the bed.
  • In the elevator, outgoing emergency calls are confirmed acoustically but not visually. Alternatively, stairs are available.
  • The dining room has tables with bright, glare-free lighting and no lamps standing or hanging above them that could interfere with the field of vision or eye contact.

  • Assistance dogs are welcome.
  • Signage (for orientation) is designed in easily legible, high-contrast font.
  • All elevated areas accessible to guests are brightly lit without glare.
  • Controls are tactile.
  • Emergency calls made in the elevator are confirmed acoustically. The stopping position is announced by voice in the main building elevator.
  • The stairs in the main building have visually contrasting edges on the first and last steps. Stairs have at least one handrail on one side.
  • The font used on the menu is simple and visually contrasting.
  • Some information is available in Braille or prismatic lettering (room numbers, stair handrails).

  • Logo and name of the company are clearly recognizable from the outside.
  • Business cards/brochures with address and telephone number of the host are visibly displayed at the reception desk.
  • Information is displayed with pictograms or pictures. At paths and rooms, the respective destination is usually within sight, there is a mostly uninterrupted visitor guidance system.
  • There is no information in easy language.
