Welcome to the youth hostel at Berlin's main railway station. 

The Christian youth hostel and barrier-free accommodation is located in the heart of the big city of Berlin. Surrounded by lots of greenery in a quiet atmosphere, our house is the ideal starting point to conquer the capital.

We offer affordable prices, a central location, large en suite rooms, good food and many dedicated staff. Many sights, e.g. the Brandenburg Gate and the Reichstag, as well as museums and theatres are in the immediate vicinity. Our house is attractive for all guests and especially for guests with special requirements.

  • There is a parking space for people with disabilities (space size: 350 cm x 500 cm). The parking space is 47 m from the entrance.
  • Access to the buildings is possible without steps.
  • All rooms and facilities that can be used and raised for the guest are accessible without steps (at ground level or via a lift or ramp). Door thresholds are max. 2 cm high. 
  • Ramps are at least 130 cm wide and have a maximum longitudinal slope of 6 %.
  • The lift car is 108 cm x 210 cm. The lift door is 90 cm wide.
  • Passages and doors are at least 90 cm wide. 
  • The reception counter is 91 cm high at the lowest point. 
  • There is another, equivalent communication option available in a seated position.
  • In the dining room there are wheelchair accessible tables (maximum height 80 cm, wheelchair accessible at a height of 67 cm with a depth of 30 cm). 
  • Assistance dogs (companion dogs, guide dogs for the blind, etc.) may be brought into all relevant areas/rooms of the facility/offer.

  • According to the operator, there are a total of five, almost identical double rooms with bathrooms available (no. 707, 709 on the ground floor, 813 on the 1st floor, 913 on the 2nd floor). 
  • The maneuvering spaces are as follows:
    in front of essential furnishings (e.g. cupboards) 150 cm x 150 cm;
    to the left of the bed 150 cm x 170 cm;
    to the right of the bed 56 cm x 170 cm.
  • The bed is 50 cm high.
  • The maneuvering spaces in the bathroom are:
    in front of the washbasin 150 cm x 150 cm;
    in front of the toilet 150 cm x 150 cm;
    to the left of the toilet 90 cm x 70 cm;
    to the right of the toilet 20 cm x 40 cm.
  • There are grab rails to the left and right of the toilet.
  • The left grab rail can be flipped-up.
  • The washbasin is accessible from underneath at a height of 67 cm and a depth of at least 30 cm.
  • The mirror can be viewed while sitting or standing.
  • The shower is accessible without steps.
  • The shower area is 150 cm x 150 cm.
  • Grab rails are provided in the shower.

  • According to the operator, there are a total of five, approximately identical double rooms with bathrooms available (No. 405 as well as Nos. 005, 105, 205 and 305).
  • The maneuvering spaces are:

    to the left of the bed 150 cm x 200 cm;
    to the right of the bed 80 cm x 200 cm.
  • The bed is 50 cm high.
  • The maneuvering spacesin the bathroom are:
    in front of the washbasin 150 cm x 145 cm;
    in front of the toilet 150 cm x 150 cm;
    to the left of the toilet 25 cm x 70 cm;
    to the right of the toilet 90 cm x 70 cm.
  • There are grab rails to the left and right of the toilet.
  • The right handhold can be flipped-up.
  • The washbasin is accessible from underneath at a height of 67 cm and a depth of at least 30 cm.
  • The mirror can be viewed while sitting or standing.
  • The shower is accessible without steps.
  • The shower area is 120 cm x 145 cm.
  • Grab rails are provided in the shower.
  • A shower seat is available or can be provided if required (fixed, folding, hook-in or mobile and stable).
  • An alarm trigger is available.

Public toilet (house 1, ground floor)

  • The maneuvering spaces are:
    150 cm x 150 cm in front of the washbasin;
    in front of the toilet 150 cm x 150 cm;
    to the left of the toilet 90 cm x 70 cm;
    to the right of the toilet 90 cm x 70 cm.
  • There are grab rails to the left and right of the toilet.

  • In the elevator, the outgoing emergency call is confirmed acoustically, but not optically.
  • There is no audio induction loop in the reception and conference area.
  • In the rooms for people with disabilities and in public areas, in the case of an audible alarm (e.g. fire alarm) there is a clearly visible flashing light or flashing signal.
  • In each room there is at least one freely available outlet near the bed.
  • The knocking on the room door is not indicated by a flashing signal.
  • In the dining room there are tables with bright and glare-free lighting.
  • There are also tables where there are no lamps standing or hanging that restrict the field of vision or eye contact.
  • There are no tables with low background noises.

  • Assistance dogs are allowed into all relevant areas of the facility with the exception of the canteen.
  • Rooms and corridors are brightly lit and glare-free. Corridors are designed rich in contrast almost everywhere (exception: corridor ground floor, house 1).
  • There are usually no obstacles, e.g. objects protruding into the path.
  • There are no carousel or rotary doors.
  • Doors or door frames are contrasting with their surroundings.
  • There is no uninterrupted guidance system with floor indicators.
  • An emergency call is confirmed acoustically in the elevator. The stopping position is announced by speech.
  • Operating elements are tactile and visually rich in contrast.
  • The room numbers are in Braille and pyramid letters next to the doors.

  • Logo and name of the company are clearly recognizable from the outside.
  • Business cards/brochures with address and telephone number of the host are visibly displayed at the reception desk.
  • Information is displayed with pictograms or pictures. At paths and rooms, the respective destination is usually within sight, there is a mostly uninterrupted visitor guidance system.
  • There is no information in easy language.
