"Kurhaus am Inselsee" Hotel & Restaurant

The "Kurhaus am Inselsee" is located at the gates of the Barlach town of Güstrow in the Heidberge recreation area between forest and lake, quiet and idyllic on the southern shore of the Inselsee. The hotel looks back on more than 100 years of hotel and gastronomy tradition. The classic ambience of the house is also reflected in the 52 rooms and suites. A homely atmosphere and a wonderful view of the forest or the Inselsee await every guest. The special comfort in the spacious rooms with telephone,Smart-TV, minibar an Nespresso machine is a matter of course for us - there is also sufficient parking space directly in front of the house. There are also 52 rooms and suites, a restaurant with regional cuisine, five event rooms, a wellness area with sauna, steam bath and swimming pool. The hotel has two barrier-free rooms.  There is a charging station for electric cars on the hotel grounds.

All areas relevant for testing fulfil the quality criteria of the label "Accessibility tested - partially barrier-free for people with walking disabilities". The wellness and spa area was surveyed but not included in the evaluation.

Some accessibility notices are listed below. For detailed information please see the evaluation report at the end of the text.

  • There are three parking spaces available for people with disabilities.
  • The “Inselsee” bus stop is 250 m away.
  • All rooms and facilities that can be used by guests (except the wellness area) are accessible at ground level, via a ramp or by elevator.
  • All passageways/doors and paths are at least 90 cm wide (except for individual doors in the Wellness & SPA area).
  • At least one double or multi-bed room is available.
  • The WC in the room can be accessed from one side (at least 80 cm). There is a flip-up grab rail at least on the accessible side of the toilet. 
  • The washbasin is wheelchair compatible and the mirror is visible when standing or sitting.
  • There are tables in the restaurant that are max. 80 cm high and wheelchair compatible at a height of 67 cm and a depth of 30 cm.
  • There is a public WC for people with disabilities. 
  • The wellness and spa area was surveyed but not included in the assessment.

  • In the event of an audible alarm, no visually perceptible flashing light or flashing signal appears.
  • There is no audio induction loop.
  • An emergency call is confirmed audibly in the elevator. Alternatively, stairs are available. 
  • In the restaurant there are no tables with bright and glare-free lighting, on which there are no lamps standing or hanging that interfere with the field of vision or eye contact. 
  • In Rooms 113and 120 is no freely available electrical outlet near the bed.
  • Free WIFI access is available.

  • Assistance dogs are allowed.
  • The entrance is visually rich in contrast, but cannot be recognized by a tactile change of floor covering.
  • Glass doors are present in the entrance area. These open automatically, they are marked with safety markings.
  • Rooms and corridors are brightly lit.
  • In the elevator, an emergency call is confirmed acoustically. The stopping position is not announced by speech.
  • Stairs are not designed with visually contrasting edges. Handrails are available.
  • There is no guidance system with floor indicators indoors and outdoors. In indoor areas, the walls can only be used as orientation guidelines to a limited extent.
  • Operating elements can be tactilely detected.
  • The house signage is designed in clearly legible, high-contrast font.
  • Information is not available in Braille or prismatic writing.
  • The menu of the restaurant is designed in straightforward font. There is no menu available in large print.

  • The name and logo of the establishment are clearly recognizable from the outside.
  • Business cards/brochures with the address and telephone number of the host are visibly displayed at the reception desk and in the rooms.
  • The destination of the route is usually within sight, or there are signs at a constantly visible distance.
  • There is no menu with pictures of the dishes. At breakfast the dishes are presented visibly (buffet, bar).
