Bauhaus Museum Dessau

Bauhaus Museum Dessau (Manuela Fischer)

To mark the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Bauhaus, the Bauhaus Museum Dessau opened in 2019. For the first time, it is possible here to comprehensively present the collection of the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation - with around 50,000 exhibits the second largest Bauhaus collection in the world.

Under the title Versuchsstätte Bauhaus. The Collection, the exhibition on the upper floor tells the story of the famous school in Dessau with over 1,000 exhibits. It describes the Bauhaus as a lively place where teaching and learning, artistic experimentation and work on industrial prototypes took place.

The first floor of the Bauhaus Museum Dessau is a new cultural Bauhaus venue in the center of Dessau. As an experimental venue for performative and discursive formats, the Open Stage complements and expands the program on the Bauhaus Stage in the historic Bauhaus building. The program consists of lectures, film screenings and talks, dance, theater, music and performance projects.
