Experimentarium (Anne Wilken)

Just a few steps from the beach, the Experimentarium is a venue for events, workshops, creative activities, theatre and playground all in one. Over 70 interactive experimental stations are waiting to be tried out in the Experimentarium.

Some information on accessibility are listed below. For detailed information please see the evaluation report.  

  • There are three marked parking spaces for people with disabilities (parking space size: 390 cm x 500 cm).
  • The path from the parking lot to the entrance (summer) is 5 m long, to the entrance (winter) is 40 m long. They are easy to walk and drive on.  
  • In 10 m distance there is the Darßbahn stop "Experimentarium". 
  • The paths on the premises are easy to walk and drive on and have no slopes. 
  • The building is accessible without steps via the summer as well as winter entrance.
  • The workshop is accessible only by stairs, all other rooms and facilities usable and raised for the guest are accessible without steps.
  • All doors/passages usable and raised for the guest are at least 82 cm wide. Exception: the public WC with a door width of 68 cm.
  • The experiment stations are predominantly visible while seated. Information is predominantly legible while seated. 
  • There is no public WC designed for people with disabilities in the Experimentarium. Across the street in the Athina restaurant, a WC for people with disabilities is available for Experimentarium visitors to use.

  • Assistance dogs may be brought into all relevant areas/rooms.
  • The entrances (summer and winter) are visually contrasting.
  • All raised areas that can be used by guests are well lit, i.e. bright and glare-free.
  • There are no visually contrasting or tactile floor indicators.
  • Signage is designed in legible, high-contrast lettering.
  • Experiment stations are generally well lit. The information is predominantly conveyed in writing and is visually high-contrast.

  • The name or logo of the Experimentarium are clearly visible from the outside in winter, but not the summer entrance.
  • The destinations of the paths are within sight or there are path signs at a constantly visible distance.
