Concert House Dortmund

Concert House Dortmund (Daniel Sumesgutner)

After only two years of construction, the KONZERTHAUS DORTMUND ceremoniously opened its doors in September 2002. Since then, visitors have been able to enjoy concerts in acoustically optimal surroundings with 1550 seats. Following the example of the Vienna Musikverein, the KONZERTHAUS DORTMUND is also a rectangular hall based on the "shoebox" principle. Whereas in the large Viennese hall putti and atlases on the walls reflect the sound, in the KONZERTHAUS DORTMUND rounded plaster elements with artistic box friezes ensure a reverberation time of two seconds, which is virtually ideal for classical music.

The KONZERTHAUS DORTMUND has ground-level access. The foyer, stalls and 1st and 2nd balconies are accessible by elevators. Toilets for the disabled are available. There are 16 wheelchair spaces available in the concert hall in various price groups.

Severely handicapped persons receive free admission for the accompanying person if they need to be accompanied to the concert. Different regulations may apply for special and third-party events.
