St. John's Church Magdeburg

St. John's Church Magdeburg (Jürgen Ludewig)

Modern, medieval, added value - the perfect symbiosis for special events

The Johanniskirche is Magdeburg's oldest parish church and a gem with a fascinating history - architectural, political, cultural. It was destroyed five times and rebuilt again and again. Martin Luther preached his theses here in June 1524, after which the city joined Protestantism as a whole. On the day of the Reformation, services are still held in the Johanniskirche. Otto von Guericke, one of the most important experimental physicists, worked in the tower of the Johanniskirche.

Today the church is mainly used for events such as conferences, concerts and celebrations and it lures with a breathtaking panoramic view over the city - and with an artistically fiery view from newly designed church windows.
