Trail "Lug ins Land" Havelberg

View of the river Havel from the Flushing Island (LTV ST)

The rivers Elbe and Havel are characteristic of the landscape around the Hanseatic city of Havelberg. The constant change between high and low water levels has created a varied floodplain landscape that is one of the most species-rich habitats in Europe.

The floodplain path "Lug ins Land" provides exciting insights into the cultural history, structural and species diversity of the Havel lowlands and the adjacent plateau.

The varied tour leads from the starting point at the House of Rivers to the former Havelberg vineyard, through a historic sunken lane and a magnificent linden avenue, to the eponymous viewpoint "Lug ins Land". Here you can enjoy a particularly picturesque view of the charming expanse of the lowlands. Once you have arrived in the city of Havelberg, the path branches off to the imposing Havelberg Cathedral of St. Mary and then takes a detour over the so-called Spülinsel* to the starting point of the tour.

The tour is rounded off by information boards about the biosphere reserve along the way, which clearly explain typical elements of the local natural and cultural landscape from a historical and current perspective. If you pull out your binoculars along the way, you can also observe a fascinating world of birds that is rarely found anywhere else.
