German Gemstone Museum Idar-Oberstein

German Gemstone Museum Idar-Oberstein

The German Gemstone Museum in Idar-Oberstein displays all the world's gemstone types with more than 10,000 exhibits on three floors of a stylishly restored Wilhelminian villa. In addition to sparkling gemstones and diamonds, the viewer is also captivated by artfully crafted engravings and sculptures as well as selected minerals.

In the vaulted cellar of the museum - partly in cooperation with other important museums (e.g. Dresden) - special exhibitions with special topics from the field of gemstones are held on a regular basis.

The visitors, interested laymen as well as experts, are always impressed by the variety and quality of the exhibits, as they represent the worldwide uniqueness of the gemstone region Idar-Oberstein.
