Archaeological Park Belginum

Archaeological Park Belginum (Julia Marmulla)

An unique archaeological ensemble lies directly on the "Hunsrückhöhenstraße" at the intersection of the B 327 and B 50: the Celtic-Roman cemetery of Wederath "Hochgerichtsheide", the Roman settlement of Belginum with several temple districts and the early Roman camp.

The results of decades of archaeological excavations are presented in the museum built on the historical site. The leitmotif of the exhibition concept is the millennial history of the BELGINUM plateau. The main motif for the design of the exhibition is the street, combined with a view of the cemetery a few hundred meters away from the settlement. In Roman times the highway Trier - Mainz led through the middle of the vicus and the cemetery. Under the theme "Living at a highway" the visitor discovers what was on and below the road.
