KiEZ Holiday Park "Feuerkuppe"

  The Ferienpark Feuerkuppe holiday park is a recreation centre for children and young people and a recognised youth education centre located in the Thuringian village of Straußberg near Sondershausen. Situated at the heart of nature, the park is home to 50 houses and bungalows designed especially to provide pleasant accommodation for young people. With its wide range of leisure and sports activities, projects supported by education professionals, extensive grounds and suitable seminar rooms, the Ferienpark Feuerkuppe is the ideal destination for group trips, class trips, holiday camps, training camps and choir camps. More than 30 leisure activities held on the site covering 19 hectares guarantee a unique experience, for example wheelchair basketball in the Adventure Hall or splashing about in the open-air swimming pool, which guests can use for free. In the evening, a cinema trip or disco visit are excellent recommendations or guests can simply relax and enjoy the atmosphere around the campfire.

Some Information on accessibility are listed below. For detailed information please see the evaluation report at the end.

  • There are 2 unmarked parking spaces for people with disabilities (parking space size 350 cm x 500 cm, distance to entrance 50 m).
  • The path from the car park to the entrance is easy to walk and drive on.
  • Access to the reception is via a 15 m long ramp with a gradient of 6% and a maximum width of 123 cm. A handrail is not available. Alternatively there are 4 steps without handrail.
  • The reception is 73 cm to 108 cm high. There is an equivalent communication possibility while in a sitting position.
  • All doors and passageways are at least 90 cm wide. There are no revolving or rotating doors.
  • All evaluated rooms usable by the guest are accessible at ground level or via ramps.
  • Most outdoor paths are easy to walk and drive on due to their surface quality.
  • Ground level access to the dining room is at the rear of the building. In the dining room there are wheelchair accessible tables.

Room in house 220 with sanitary room (multi-bed room)

  • Access to house/room 220 is at ground level.
  • The manoeuvring spaces in the sleeping area are 250 cm x 250 cm in front of the main immobile furnishings, 100 cm x 206 cm to the left of the bed, to the right the bed is next to a wall.
  • The bed is not wheelchair accessible.
  • A nursing bed cannot be provided.
  • The manoeuvring spaces in the sanitary room (width x depth) are:
    • in front of/behind the door 120 cm x 250 cm,
    • in front of the toilet and washbasin at least 150 cm x 150 cm,
    • to the left of the toilet 75 cm x 70 cm, to the right 120 cm x 70 cm.
  • There are handles that can be folded up on both sides of the toilet.
  • The shower area at ground level measures 120 cm x 150 cm. A shower chair and horizontal handles are available.
  • The washbasin is wheelchair compatible and the mirror can be seen while standing or sitting.

Room in bungalow 203 with sanitary room (double room)

  • Access to the room in bungalow 203 is at ground level.
  • The manoeuvring spaces in the sleeping area are 150 cm x 130 cm in front of the main immobile furnishings, 94 cm x 200 cm to the left of the bed, to the right the bed is next to a wall.
  • The bed is compatible for a bed lift.
  • A nursing bed cannot be provided.
  • The manoeuvring spaces in the sanitary room (width x depth) are as follows:
    • in front of/behind the door 150 cm x 120 cm,
    • in front of the toilet 150 cm x 150 cm
    • in front of the sink 150 cm x 100 cm,
    • to the left of the toilet 100 cm x 50 cm, to the right 20 cm x 50 cm.
  • There are handles on both sides of the toilet, the left handle can be folded up.
  • The shower area at ground level is at least 150 cm x 150 cm. A shower chair and horizontal handles are available.
  • The washbasin has limited wheelchair access and the mirror can be seen while standing or sitting.

Room 148 in the guesthouse with sanitary room (double room)

  • Access to the guesthouse is via a 200 cm long mobile ramp with 11 % gradient and a maximum walking width of 100 cm. A handrail is available.
    Alternatively there are 2 steps.
  • The manoeuvring spaces in the sleeping area are 200 cm x 200 cm on the left and right side of the bed and in front of essential immobile furnishings.
  • The bed is compatible for a bed lift.
  • A nursing bed cannot be provided.
  • The sanitary room belongs to rooms 148 and 149.
  • The manoeuvring spaces in the sanitary room (width x depth) are:
    • in front of/behind the door and in front of the toilet and washbasin at least 150 cm x 150 cm,
    • to the left of the toilet 20 cm x 50 cm, to the right 100 cm x 50 cm.
  • There are handles on both sides of the toilet, the right handle can be folded up.
  • The shower area at ground level is 150 cm x 150 cm. A shower chair and horizontal handles are available.
  • The washbasin has limited wheelchair access and the mirror cannot be seen while in a sitting position.

Public toilet for people with disabilities in the multipurpose hall

  • The manoeuvring spaces are:
    • in front of/behind the door, in front of the toilet and washbasin at least 150 cm x 150 cm,
    • left of toilet 120 cm x 72 cm, right 50 cm x 72 cm.
  • Folding handles on both sides of the toilet are available.
  • The washbasin is wheelchair compatible and the mirror can be seen while standing or sitting.

Public toilet for people with disabilities in the climbing hall

  • The manoeuvring spaces are:
    • in front of/behind the door 90 cm x 150 cm,
    • in front of the toilet and washbasin at least 120 cm x 120 cm,
    • to the left of the toilet 77 cm x 70 cm, to the right 20 cm x 70 cm.
  • Both sides of the toilet are equipped with folding handles.
  • The washbasin is wheelchair compatible and the mirror can be seen while standing or sitting.

  • There is no audio induction loop.
  • There are tables in the dining room where there are no lamps standing or hanging that interfere with eye contact. There are no bright and glare-free tables or areas with low background noises. There is no menu in upper case letters or Braille.
  • In the surveyed rooms there is at least one electrical outlet available near the bed.
  • There is no television with teletext (exception: room in house 220).
  • Free WIFI access is available.
  • Knocking at the room door is not indicated by a flashing signal.
