VCH-Hotel "Christophorus" (R.Petkovic 2017)

The 3-star Hotel Christophorus is located in the heart of the wonderful park landscape of the Evangelical Johannesstift, directly at the Spandauer Forst. The house has 55 rooms, of which 5 rooms are suitable for wheelchair users. All rooms are equipped with shower, WC, telephone and TV and have a view of the greenery. Access to the hotel is stepless, all public areas of the house are at ground level. In addition to various meeting rooms, a restaurant and a summer terrace are also available. The Hotel Christophorus is an inclusive hotel, where employees with and without disabilities care for the well-being of the guests.

  • There is a marked parking lot for people with disabilities.  
  • The bus stop is 120 m away. 
  • All elevated rooms that can be used by guests are accessible at ground level or by elevator.
  • All doors/passages that can be used by guests and are raised are at least 90 cm wide.
  • The reception counter is 75 cm high at its lowest point. There are five barrier-free rooms.
  • The WC can be accessed from the right in three rooms and from the left in two rooms. There is a folding grab rail at least on the accessible side of the toilet. 
  • The washbasin is wheelchair accessible.
  • The mirror is not always visible from a seated position.
  • Access to the shower is barrier-free. A grab rail and a shower chair are available.
  • There are wheelchair-accessible tables in the dining rooms (breakfast room, restaurant).  
  • There is a public WC for people with disabilities, which can be accessed from at least one side (at least 90 cm). There are folding grab rails to the left and right of the WC.

  • In the event of an audible alarm (e.g. fire alarm), there is no clearly visible flashing or blinking signal.
  • There is no audio induction loop system.
  • In the elevator, an emergency call is confirmed acoustically, but not visually. Alternatively, there are stairs.
  • In the dining rooms, there are tables with bright and glare-free lighting and no lamps that restrict the field of vision. 
  • In the rooms 109, 209 and 14 (double rooms) there is at least one freely available socket near the bed.
  • Wi-Fi access is available free of charge.

  • Assistance dogs may be brought along.
  • The entrance is visually rich in contrast and recognizable by a tactile change in flooring.
  • There are glass doors in the entrance area. These are not marked with safety markings and open automatically.
  • All elevated areas that can be used by guests are brightly lit and glare-free.
  • An outgoing emergency call in the elevator is confirmed acoustically.
  • On stairs, at least the first and last step have a visually contrasting edge with the horizontal and vertical step surface. Stairs must have a handrail on at least one side.
  • The signage is designed in clearly legible and high-contrast lettering. 
  • Information is not tactile or available in Braille.

  • Name and logo of the company are clearly recognizable from the outside.
  • Business cards/brochures with address and telephone number of the host are visibly displayed at the reception desk.
  • The destination of the route is usually within sight, but there is no uninterrupted guidance system.
