The postmodern facade reaches up to 150m in height and, together with the TV tower, forms a striking landmark of Berlin's City East. Some information on accessibility are listed below. For detailed information please see the evaluation report at the end of the text.

  • There are three parking spaces for people with disabilities in the area of the hotel driveway (parking space size: 350 cm x 550 cm, distance to entrance: 20 m). 
  • The parking lot and the paths to the entrance are easy to walk and drive on due to the surface quality.
  • At the two entrances without steps or thresholds "Alexanderplatz" and "Alexanderstraße" there are self-opening revolving doors which can be adjusted to a permanent and continuous opening or as an automatic sliding door.
  • There are no other revolving or rotating doors in the hotel itself (exception: public toilet on the ground floor with turnstile at the entrance).
  • The reception counter is 123 cm high. There is no alternative way of communication in a sitting position.
  • All passageways / doors are at least 90 cm wide (exceptions: doors to room and toilet door 607 with 70 cm, doors to / from public toilet im 1st floor with 80 cm).
  • All evaluated rooms and facilities available to the guests are steplessly accessible at ground level or via a ramp or elevators.
  • The elevator cab of the glass elevator (ground floor - 2nd floor) measures 136 cm x 173 cm. 
  • The cabins of the eight elevators of groups A and C are 190 cm x 145 cm in size and identical in construction. 
  • In the restaurants are wheelchair accessible tables. 

Room 606 (single bedroom)

  • There is a 90 cm wide connecting door to room 607.
  • The maneuvering space in front of essential immobile furnishings is 150 cm x 95 cm.
  • The maneuvering space to the left of the bed is 95 cm x 200 cm, to the right the bed is on the wall.
  • Bedroom and bathroom are not separated. There is no door to the bathroom.
  • The maneuvering spaces in the bathroom are as follows:
    in front of the toilet 150 cm x 150 cm and in front of the washbasin 100 cm x 150 cm,
    to the left of the toilet 34 cm x 70 cm, to the right 90 cm x 70 cm.
  • There are handles which cen be folded up on both sides of the toilet.
  • The washbasin is wheelchair accessible and the mirror can be seen while standing or sitting.
  • The stepless shower is 150 cm x 150 cm in size (2 cm threshold). A shower seat is available, no grab handles.

Room 607 (double bedroom)

  • There is a connecting door to room 606.
  • The room door is 70 cm wide, the narrowest passage in the bedroom is 60 cm wide.
  • The maneuvering space in front of essential immobile furnishings is 146 cm x 150 cm.
  • The maneuvering space to the left of the bed is 95 cm x 166 cm, to the right 150 cm x 150 cm.
  • Bedroom and bathroom are not separated. There is only a 69 cm wide door to the toilet niche. There is no toilet designed for people with disabilities.
  • The stepless shower measures 118 cm x 77 cm (2 cm threshold). A shower seat and grab handles are not available.

Public toilet for people with disabilities on the 1st floor

  • The doors in the toilet area are 80 cm wide.
  • The maneuvering space is:
    at the door, in front of the toilet and the washbasin 116 cm x 116 cm,
    right to the toilet 62 cm x 55 cm, from the left the toilet is not accessible.
  • There are handles on both sides of the toilet. The right handle can be folded up.
  • The washbasin is wheelchair accessible and the mirror can be seen while standing or sitting.

Public toilet for people with disabilities on the ground floor

  • The toilet for people with disabilities can only be reached through a turnstile or through the 53 cm wide door next to it. 
  • The door to the toilet room is 92 cm wide.
  • The maneuvering space is:
    at the door, in front of the toilet and washbasin 120 cm x 105 cm,
    right to the toilet 74 cm x 55 cm, from the left the toilet is not accessible.
  • On the right side of the toilet there is a handle which can be folded, but none on the left.
  • The washbasin has limited wheelchair access and the mirror can be seen while standing and sitting.

  • In the case of an audible alarm, there is no visually perceptible flashing or flashing signal.
  • There is no audio induction loop.
  • In all elevator, the confirmation of an emergency call is made acoustically, not visually. Alternatively there are stairs available.
  • In room 606 there is at least one freely available electrical outlet near the bed, but not in room 607. 
  • WiFi is available for communication.
  • In the restaurants there are tables with bright and glare-free lighting, on which there are no lamps or hanging that restrict the field of vision or eye contact. There are seating areas with low background noises.

  • Assistance dogs are allowed.
  • The entrance "Alexanderplatz" is visually rich in contrast, but cannot be recognized by a tactile change of floor covering. The entrance at "Alexanderstrasse" is visually rich in contrast and can be recognized by a tactile change in the floor covering.
  • Both entrance doors are revolving doors that can be opened without any effort (lever handle).
  • Glass doors are marked with safety markings.
  • Control elements and paths in corridors can be detected tactilely almost everywhere and are visually rich in contrast. The walls can be predominantly used as an orientation guideline.
  • The evaluated rooms and corridors that can be used by the guest, the elevator and the stairs are well illuminated, e.g. bright and glare-free.
  • In the evaluated elevators, an emergency call is confirmed audibly. The stopping position is not announced by spoken commands. Control elements and signage are tactilely detectable in the elevators of group A and C, but the design is not rich in contrast. In the glass elevator, the operating elements and the signage are neither tactilely detectable nor rich in contrast.
  • The staircase at the glass elevator has handrails on both sides, but no visually contrasting step surfaces. There is no visual contrast between the floor covering and the staircase.
  • There is no information available in Braille or prismatic writing.
  • The menu in restaurants is designed in plain, high-contrast font, but not in large print. The menu is available on a barrier-free website.

  • Name and logo of the hotel are clearly recognizable from the outside at both entrances.
  • The destination of the path is in sight or there are path signs at a visible distance.
  • A business card with the address and telephone number of the hotel is visibly displayed at the reception desk.
  • In the restaurants there is no menu with pictures. The dishes are only presented visibly in the breakfast room. 
  • Information is not represented with pictograms or pictures. There is no information in easy language.
