Cycling to see Europe's last remaining wild horses? On this scenic route through the High Mark Nature Park, located between Münsterland, the Lower Rhine and the Ruhr area, you can – but it is by no means the only highlight.

Math whizzes, listen up! What do eight valleys and 280 kilometres add up to? According to the ADFC German Cyclist's Association: four stars and three days of cycling fun! The route begins at Lake Aasee in Bocholt and winds its way through the High Mark Nature Park with its richly varied landscape. Sometimes it traverses heathland and skirts idyllic bodies of water such as the Haltern Reservoir, sometimes it leads through forests and moorland. Animal highlights include the ospreys at Hullerner Stausee reservoir and the approximately 400 horses at Europe's only wild horse stud farm in Merfelder Bruch near Dülmen. You'll meet lots of people in the wilderness in the nearby Ruhr region, in Dorsten or in Bocholt, where the tour ends.
