The Germany Travel MartTM 2023 as a milestone for sustainable tourism development in North Rhine-Westphalia and the Ruhr region.

Just as the 48th GTM in Oberammergau has been successfully staged, the general conditions for the next GTM have already been set: From April 16 - 18, 2023, the city of Essen will be the venue for the 49th GTM. In organizing the event, the German National Tourist Board (GNTB) will be assisted by Essen Marketing Gesellschaft mbH (EMG), Ruhr Tourismus GmbH (RTG) and Tourismus NRW e.V. as partners.

"We are already looking forward to the next GTM in Essen. The high interest in travel to Germany among the international travel industry reflects the need for such a business platform. The Ruhr region exemplifies a successful transformation towards an environmentally oriented region with a wide range of offers for nature and active vacations. Essen, in turn, underlines Germany's position as Europe's No. 1 cultural travel destination, for example with the UNESCO World Heritage Zollverein Coal Mine Industrial Complex and Villa Hügel," says Petra Hedorfer, CEO of the GNTB.

At the 2-day workshop in the Philharmonie and Saalbau rooms, as well as at two further events at the Zollverein UNESCO World Heritage Site and in the newly opened Airship Hall at Essen-Müllheim Airport, German suppliers from the hotel and transport industries, as well as local and regional tourism organizations, will once again meet an international trade audience from the most important source markets for German tourism to present their offerings, engage in specialist discussions and make new contacts.
