The Berlin Wall divided the German capital for 28 years. The best way to explore what is left of the former border installations these days is on a bike.

Cyclists following the Berlin Wall Trail will be powerfully reminded of Germany's division. Most of the trail runs along the border patrol paths in the west and the paths used by East German border guards for surveillance trips in the east. The loop leads cyclists past the last remaining watchtowers, museums and memorials, such as on Bernauer Strasse, through the modern-day city centre and around the old border. The blend of nature and dramatic history makes the Berlin Wall Trail a themed city tour and a scenic route in one.
