Artland Cycle Tour – picturesque half-timbered houses and vast landscapes
This circular route is particularly popular with beginners and families. It is mostly flat and offers many places to stop for refreshments and even more eye-catching sights: gorgeous half-timbered houses, wide open countryside, idyllic villages.
The Artland region, located in southern Lower Saxony between Osnabrück and the Ems river, boasts two special features. For one, it's home to an extensive, park-like landscape full of avenues, oak groves and green fields. And secondly, nestled between idyllic rivers and pretty villages, there are impressive half-timbered farms, more than 300 of which are listed buildings. You won't find that anywhere else in Europe. In addition to these 'treasure troves of Artland', the Hanseatic town of Quakenbrück also delights visitors with its ornate half-timbered buildings, while Bersenbrück boasts a monastery and museum. You can soak it all in at one of many quaint farm shops, cafes and beer gardens along the way.
