The eponymous low mountain ranges, parts of the Weser Uplands, areas of the Paderborn Plateau karst landscape and the Senne with its dunes and heaths make the Teutoburg Forest/Egge Mountains Nature Park the largest in North Rhine-Westphalia.

The cultural heritage of the nature park includes numerous monasteries and castles as well as spas with their healing and thermal springs. Particularly worth seeing are the Hermann monument, the legendary Externsteine and the impressive Desenberg. Rare species such as the black stork, eagle owl and the shy wildcat are at home in the extensive beech forests. The Teutoburg Forest/Eggegebirge Nature Park has an extensive network of hiking and cycling trails and offers recreational activities for the whole family.
